Description
Organic chemistry is an important topic which makes up a large portion of the leaving cert paper. In this lesson, we will first discuss 8 families of chemical compounds called homologous series – the alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and esters. We will then describe the different types of chemical reactions that these compounds can take part in, and how members from one family can be converted to members of another.
In this lesson we will cover Higher Level Leaving Cert Chemistry Organic Chemistry. This lesson will cover:
- Organic Compounds
- Naming and Drawing Organic Compounds
- Hydrocarbons
- Alcohols, Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids and Esters
- Reaction Types
- Organic Synthesis
- Exam Questions
With lessons, tests, hotspots, games and interactive videos, improve your knowledge of Chemistry in the topic of Organic Chemistry!
